"This is not the first time we have used this property, but this time the deck had nails sticking up, boards that were very rough and even boards that were loose. The boards toward the bench were similiar. I am concerned about next year, the "bridge" to the beach is wonderful, but getting up and down the sand area is becoming increasingly harder the older I become. We have put a pre-deposit down, but I am looking at other properties that have a set of stairs all the way to the beach. Have rented through Century 21 Action for several years now and have never had an unpleasant experience. Professional, friendly and willness to help in any situation that has arisen."

"Love, love, love this place. From the various places to sit outside, the tall deck chairs, the well equipped kitchen and the wonderful master BR mattress. Oh yes, and that MBR shower was great! I am glad that none of the neighbors were sitting on their decks too. It's a little close there. It would be nice if the upstairs deck was more waterproof for the downstairs one. Since it rained most of the time, we didn't get as much outside time as we would have liked. Everyone we worked with at C21 was top notch!"

"Though we loved the location of the property, we were quite disappointed with the maintenance of the property. And the absence of toiletries was also an inconvenience. At least toilet rolls should have been there. Fresh linens were a blessing. And the strategic location of the property helped us to enjoy our vacation more."

"The king mattress in the master bedroom is extremely uncomfortable. It is worn and creaky and murder on the back. I spent at least half of every night in the recliner. One of the bars on the oceanside deck fell out while we were sitting on the porch. It didn't hit a car below, but it left a large opening--large enough for a child or animal to fall through. All of those bars seem loose and probably should be replaced with something permanent. Also, while not a maintenance problem, the lady next door (on the corner) feeds feral cats who spend most of their days under the cars in Rete's Retreat carport. One of them attacked and sprayed our dog. They probably need to be neutered and given a check-up then they can be returned but won't be a danger to guests."

"This is the second time I've booked Birdsnest, we love the location in N. Topsail, the kitchen has everything you could need and it appears a new TV and master bed was new this year. As a suggestion, there are a couple deck stair treads leading from the second floor to the beach and from the ground floor to the front door that need to be screwed down, they are loose. Also, a new couch for the living room would be a much appreciated addition since the current one is very old and uncomfortable. We did have quite an ant problem in the kitchen, understand it happens at the beach, but there were at least 75 ants our first night. Resolved with ant traps. The AC on the bedroom level needs to be checked, it was set at 69 and would only cool to 75. The filter needs to be replaced there as well."

"Some of the ivy and thorns could be cut back from the deck area. On the front deck coming in from the street side of the house, the wood is getting a little soft and there is some wear and holes. It could be that this is a project to replace in the coming months? "

"We had to clean up dog poop that was not ours. The outside furniture needs to be painted. The deck has nail heads and splinters sticking up. One of the sliding glass doors would not lock. There was sand on all the outside furniture and no hose to spray them down. The ceilings inside in certain areas are peeling. The kitchen needs new skillets and bakeware and a strainer for dishes. The downstairs pullout mattress needs to be replaced - very uncomfortable. The downstairs frig should have been defrosted. Would be nice to have a dresser in the second bedroom. The space and views of this house are wonderful. The house needs a lot of TLC compared to other houses we have stayed in at Topsail. We want to return and hope to see some improvements next year. We are looking for a house to grow into and if this house gets improvements we will keep returning if not we will be looking for another one."

"although there was clean bedding, the paneling on the walls was coated in dust balls and the carpet needs replaced, there was paint all over it from where they painted. I would have also liked to have seen another piece of comfortable furniture (like a chair at least) there was also only a couch in the living area, which made uncomfortable if you wanted to lay down or relax there wasn't enough furniture to sit comfortable. Other than that I love the location and the barn. "

"The mattresses on the bunk beds were very uncomfortable I ended up stacking two mattresses on top of each other in order to get adequate support for my back. The staff running the front desk are personable and very helpful no improvement needed. Adrian and Scott were helpful in resolving my issue with the beach replenishing going on in front of our house. After five days of non-stop construction equipment driving back and forth in front of our house an agreement was reached to my satisfaction."

"This year "Ann's Place" appeared shabby. The rooms and cocktail table needed painted. The door between the bathroom and shower needs replaced so that privacy can be maintained. Because the placed needed painted so badly, the condo appeared dirty. Our TV clicker wasn't working. We notified our rental agency and the clicker was immediately replaced. Your staff has been very helpful. Thank you."

"I felt the property was well worn and in many ways outdated: broken tiles in the bathroom, shower did not have a door but a curtain instead, no counter space in the master bathroom, kitchen was decorated nicely but again, very well worn. I felt the "loft" was actually a hazard to get to since it infringed on the stairs. The front door was very, very difficult to unlock. The washer/dryer were older and did not perform well. The half bath in the laundry room was well used. This condo, to me, was not valued at $2000 for the week."

"WE love Surf City and plan to come back next summer. We would even consider the same property, unfortunately we had a rodent issue. I purchased a rat trap for under the kitchen sink and was able to kill three rats in one day. nothing after that was trapped. "The owners need to make some improvements. The air conditioner didn't work effectively. The person who came to check It he said that the high temperatures were due to the doors and windows leaking air. Also there are no steps leading tho the beach. The tubs and sinks are usable but very worn. There are places where the living room floor is coming up. The issues need to be addresses by the owners and were not a quick fix type problem. The experience we had with the staff at century 21 was very good. My only concern was that the owners have not maintained the property well enough to warrant the cost of the stay."

"The deck seemed to be very unstable and would shake easily. The soundside deck was about to fall apart. I wouldn't let my kids go out on it at all. I would recommend putting a "Private property" sign on the beach access. SO MANY people were using the stairs like a public access on the weekends, and it was very annoying."

"Avalon is a great property, but some things need improvement. Insufficient flatware (we were constantly washing by hand), the dishwasher didn't clean well, the TVs remotes did not all have batteries, the hose near the shower had holes, the hammock was not usable, and the ceiling in the middle upstairs bedroom had mold on the ceiling. None of these things would keep us from coming back, but should be attended to."

"The roadside view of the house is very ugle and there was a lot of stinky garbage in drive. Both cans were overflowing and additional garbage was on the driveway. Bags had blown to other areas. The garage was so tight that it was difficult to get past car. The plastic chairs were so cheap and uncomfortable that they were not much better than nothing. The backs were so flexible that you thought that the chair was breaking and the back of the chair bit into your back. The other houses on both sides had better furniture and picnic tables so that you could eat outside. 1 bathroom door would not close upstairs, a towel rack needed to be attached better, bathroom sink upstairs had a very slow drain and there was a grouting problem that will cause problems down the road."

"I was told by the staff I did not need a pool pass just show them my key. Every time my kids went to the pool (age 21 & 6) They were told they needed a pass and would not be allowed back in without one. So I had to leave the beach to talk to the pool monitor. He said no problem but a new pool monitor was there the following day and she said the same thing about the pool pass. This was very frustrating to me and my family. Also, will inluence my decision using Century 21 and staying at Surf Condo. I am very dissatisfied."

Kitchen furnishings were random and mismatched and some had been put into cabinets dirty. Specific rental is hard to locate when you first arrive. Not enough luggage carts. No problems with C21 but would pick another rental. "

"The house was infested with ants. The potholder was cheap, old, and torn. I burned my hand trying to take something out of the oven. The living room couch was ripped. Also, feathers were coming out all throughout the couch due to tiny holes all over it. The kitchen floor has a crack/hole, and my daughter cut her foot on it. The flooring near the fireplace is also cracked and is a safety hazard."

"The immediate outside area of the home has no curb appeal, although it is clean and the least one would expect of a vacation rental. the inside of the home needs some cleaning up and painting/repairs. The kitchen had lots of appliances but lacked in silverware and utensils (except cooking spoons and tongs there were at least 9 of each of those). Deck furniture on the 3rd floor deck is cheap and unstable. I would suggest some of the nice tall chairs that are in the duplex next door."

"The mattress in the smaller bedroom needs to be replaced. My friend couldn't sleep on it because it sagged. The vertical binds in the master need major work. Someone did come by and fill in about 6 that were missing slats. The pieces continued to fall out and I was very carefully when opening and closing them. The linens and towels provided were nicer than I expected! The check-in lady was very nice!"

"My only problem with the property was it was listed as a beachfront house and it was three back. That is not a beachfront house. It had an ocean view but was NOT beachfront! Was a little disappointed. I knew it was further back but the pictures showed the houses staggered but they were clearly NOT. A little bit of false advertising. The house was beautiful and we still had a great time and were so glad we could bring our dogs! I think you accurately dis ribs the location."

"Love Sea Smiles. The bedroom configurations are perfect for our family. The kitchen updates were great as was the new big screen TV in the family room. The kitchen was very well equipped with anything we needed. The high chair was very helpful as we have a new baby. Love the turndown service. So nice to not have to worry about making beds after a long trip. The owners seem to take pride in their home and not just consider it an income producer. Loved that we could just use a passcode for the pool area instead of the dreaded wristbands. Everyone seemed to be well behaved in the pool area and it was great to not have the "Pool Nazi" hovering over everyone. Great move on the part of the HOA. We love The Village of Stump Sound and its seclusion from the roadway. Seems just like our neighborhood where we feel safe and can let the kids go outside with no worries. They LOVE the ice cream man who comes thru almost everyday and look forward to him as well as the Italian Ice vendors on the beach. We already have our reservation hold in for next year and can't wait for another great vacation. Very well satisfied with Sea Smiles. We've stayed there for several years and hope to make more memories with future stays. No complaints at all. The only thing I would recommend is a good carpet scrubbing. "Carpet is stained throughout, wallpaper is pealing in bathrooms,outdoor shower has only cold water, hose to clean feet did not work, coffee pot leaked all over counter, handles off or loose on two slider doors, mold in shower fixture, outdoor shower head fell off. outside decks look trashy with nails rusted throughout. Its too bad because the lay out of the property was perfect for us. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with Century 21. Their service is always great and responsive, but I have rented numerous times from you in the past and had thought your standards were higher regarding the properties you represent."

"We were very disappointed in this property. The furnishings really needed an update. It felt like the owners just put in whatever they could find. It was very hodgepodge. There was not a CD player as advertised, however, Century 21 came and installed one in the living area. The house needed maintenance and we had to call Century 21 because the refrigerator leaked inside and out. The appliances were old and concerning. There was rust on many of them, and showed signs of wear and tear. The comforters/blankets that were in the house were minimal. and we did not want to use them because we did not know when they were last laundered. We could not use the outside picnic table because of the splintering wood, and had to bring up chairs from the garage to place on the deck. The outside shower was really disgusting--mold, mildew, and needed a thorough cleaning. We didn't want even our dog to take a shower in there. We ended up using the front hose to wash the sand off before coming in the house. The faucet on the hose was broken, leaked and needed to be replaced,"

"We love Carolina Moon. It's perfect for our multi-family gathering. Rough start this year with the air conditioning upstairs not working when we arrived. We appreciated Century 21's responsiveness. The beach reclamation project worked and we had more beach at high tide!! As noted, the team at Century 21 was responsive when the air wasn't functioning on the top floor. "Our neighbors used the rental for the first 3 Days of the rental. When they arrived, they said the place was not clean. ( Dirty dishes in the sink, food crumbs on floor).They called you and you sent someone over. They say that the cleaners did not do a good job and had to do some cleaning themselves. There was no coffee pot on the property, a small 8 cube ice tray and one wine glass. All of these things are things that people vacationing at the beach use. I have rented properties for 25 years ( not with Century 21) now and this is the worst equipped place that I have ever had. I will say that I was happy with Russ who made the reservation and with the girl who checked us out. We love Topsail and do hope to come back again. "We liked this property, well enough to come back to it again next year. The kitchen could have used a few more pans but everything inside was very nice and kept up. My only complaints are the property had a very big roach infestation. Every room you walk into, you would see a roach. When you walk up the porch at night there would be hundreds on the deck. My other complaint is there was no water shower/spicket to wash off with. Yes the house in front had one but by the time you walk back to this house your feet are all dirty and sandy again. There was a spicket by the porch steps but it had a lock on it and would have been nice to use it. "

"All in all the house was in very good shape met our expectations. The upstairs was in the great condition (loved the hard wood floors) and the kitchen was very well stocked. The only things that fell short were: (1) the blinds in the bedrooms were missing some slats making it impossible to fully cover the doors (2) the bedspread in the upstairs bedding was so lumpy and old looking we didn't even use it. (3) the carpet downstairs has some serious wear and tear that shows"

However, there were a couple of things that would have made our stay over the top: the grass needed cutting, it took a day to figure out the t.v. system, and there was no spatula in the kitchen. (I know this is picky..but we both like fried eggs for breakfast and we had to eat scrambled eggs all week because there was no spatula to cook fried eggs with!!) but you know what? WE LIVED and had a great time!!! Hope you will take these as constructive feedback items! I feel so bad that I did not get anyone's name, but everyone that we dealt with was super nice, professional and friendly. The best customer service ever! We couldn't have asked for more! "The house has not been well maintained. There were active leaks/ drips in the ceiling in the living room (we had to use a trash can to catch it) and from the balcony doors in the living room. There were dirty looking places on the ceilings and walls from previous leaks. The comforter in one of the downstairs rooms had BLOOD on it. The 2nd floor AC was not functioning properly. We were provided fans which helped tremendously and appreciated that. Thank you. 2 of the bathrooms had no towel racks or towel bars. The upstairs bathroom had no toilet paper holder bar which was repaired on the 2nd day of our stay. One of the bathrooms had a bad smell in what we think were the drains of the tub and sink. Including linens with the rental is great and we loved not having to worry about sheets, etc. That is a great service. The kitchen was nice and had pots and pans and most of the things you'd need with the exception of adequate silverware - there were only a few forks. I'd say a couple more place settings would be great. Table was a nice size to fit everyone, but the little side table and chairs made the kitchen kind of cramped. For the price we paid, we were extremely disappointed in the state of disrepair of the house. If there weren't so many maintenance issues, it would have been the perfect house with the number of rooms and bathrooms and balcony access. It has such potential but really needs to have some work done. I think all property owners should be (and probably are) required to meet a minimum standard for upkeep. If the rental company can only do what is approved by the owners different/ higher expectations need to be established with the owners. I know this may be an isolated thing and other houses may have fewer issues, but this is our only exposure to the company and we were very disappointed with the shape the house was in. We have stayed on Topsail with a different rental company before and will probably use them again for our next vacation. The AC was not working properly downstairs and there were drips and active leaks. The maintenance man came quickly and was nice and helpful and did what he could but are a lot of maintenance/ upkeep issues. The refrigerator was not cooling so my brother checked the coil - it looked as though it had never been cleaned so he spent 30 minutes cleaning it. The interior of windows and glass on the doors had hand print smears which we had to purchase our own cleaner to clean as the company was not able to provide us due to liability. We were not able to do late check out (which ended up being fine) as it is a busy time for the cleaning company, but I don't understand why that is the case when our particular house didn't seem to have been cleaned other than what the previous renters did. The problem we had was not with maintenance, it was with overall upkeep. We were very satisfied with how responsive the company was to our maintenance needs."

The TV in the twin bed bedroom only played VHS tapes - no cable connection. This is very much out of date. Deck furniture was very limited requiring us to move from deck to deck just to have two chairs. Dishwasher didn't work. C21 sent repair tech quickly, but even after the repair, it didn't clean dishes even when well rinsed.Dishwasher in this unit should be replaced. We have enjoyed our stays booked through C21. Our problems with this unit were minor and handled well when we called attention to them. Thanks!"

"Overall, the house was ok, and we had a good week. Beds and bedding were nice. What could be improved... Carpets are atrocious!!! Hardwoods (or Pergo) would have made a world of difference. There are no hooks anywhere (especially in the bathrooms and outdoor shower), so we constantly had wet towels and swimsuits everywhere. No high speed internet meant we couldn't watch Netflix or stream movies... frustrating! 2 front windows (to the left of the sliding door) are broken and could not be opened all week. I was afraid to try the other ones. There was 1 hanger in the whole house. The house sleeps 8 yet has seats for 6 at the table. I was very impressed with Century 21 Action and felt that it was the most organized, efficient realty company that we have dealt with at the beach. The welcome kit was wonderful, and you were always quick and efficient with responses, check in and check out. I would definitely look at renting a house with you again... just not that house."

Possibly from the overflowing trash cans out front?! Would it be possible to have more frequent trash pickups? The cookware and cookie sheets need to be replaced- next year we will bring our own supplies!"

"We were moved to this property at the last minute due to the dredging project that would have been in front of the house we originally signed up for. First of all, thanks to the owner of this duplex and Century 21 for making the last minute changes. the property is beautiful and is perfect for a large family. The only downfall being, it is a duplex. We had only adults and the neighbors had a lot of kids that evidently liked running up and down stairs but that's kids for you. Other than that, being in Surf City was nice as we were able to walk to restaurants and shops. Again, thanks to the owner and Century 21! We are regulars to Topsail and we have always used Century21Topsail for our reservations. We will continue to do so. They have always been great to work with!! THANKS!"

"A grill is a part of the beach experience. We have always had access to one with the property and at other properties rented at Century 21 over a sixteen year renting period. Major beach construction was underway to our dismay and stark surprise. No one alerted us that this was going on and took a chance or "had thought," it would not affect our only Vacay of the year. We were very disappointed, and had to travel to another section of beach thus forfeiting the expense and convienece of having an ocean front property. The best Adrian could do for a family who has possibly come close to punching a property there was offer an early check in and check out for the next time."

There was poison oak all over the decking area, all the outside furniture was broken( had to buy our own chairs to sit on deck). You all should do more inspections on the properties that you rent to people, I feel that I should have only paid half of what I paid for the quality of this property. Remember this reflects on you ! "The landscaping could use freshening up. A little overgrown and some dead plants sitting around. The outside shower was pretty much a joke. It had a nice enclosure, but the shower left a lot to be desired. The Welcome packet was wonderful and the rental linens were great. Several areas inside with noticable water damage. One MAJOR issue was the railing along the loft. It is extremely unstable and dangerous. If a young child or even a grown up were to lean on the rail, it would give way. I would suggest that it be fixed ASAP before someone gets hurt."

The silverware has broken over time. . We had to purchase additional plastic ware. There are 2 handheld can openers, but neither worked. We purchased an inexpensive one & left it. The WIFI worked sporadically. The railings on the top deck by the living area were loose & unsafe. The outside light on the back deck would cause the circuit to shut off when on. We noticed the lights flickering (dimming) at night throughout the house. "

"Frankly this rental, compared to previous ones in your portfolio, was disappointing. The deck and stairs were actually scary because they were in such poor repair! The kitchen was inadequate for a family that looks forward to cooking in. We chose this unit because of the floor plan and were delighted with that aspect, however the cheap furniture and marginal toilets were disappointing, but we managed. The toilets were especially annoying to the male members because there's inadequate clearance between the seat and water... Plus they were all hard to flush (due to cheap mechanisms.) For the 11 years we've been coming to Topsail, we've always booked with you all. We noticed a lot of units in the area, and most of them seem to be much better maintained, so we'll definitely do more research next time. The agent on duty at check-in was very helpful and friendly and the welcome bag was wonderful to have (especially the TP, since we forgot!)"

"We did enjoy our stay at Summer Cottage, however there are several issues that need to be addressed. The cottage overall did not seem clean when we arrived. The first thing I noticed was the trash can. The lid was disgusting and it looked like it had never been cleaned. It needs to be thrown out and replaced. There were cobwebs on the light fixtures in bathroom. Mold in shower. The master bedroom tv and area around tv was covered in a thick layer of dust. The glass on the screen doors had not been cleaned and were smudged w/ fingerprints. We found food in the floor behind the couch in the dining area from previous guests. We found two roaches while we were there. The sofa and recliners in living room smell terrible, like they haven't been cleaned in years. All of the cookware and knives in the kitchen need updating BADLY. Dishes were dirty when we pulled them out to use them. I felt like I needed to wash everything before using. We started seeing ants in the kitchen towards the end of the week. Lastly, the outside shower barely had any pressure and there is no hose or lower spigot or anything to sufficiently wash off your beach chairs, umbrellas etc. I would give the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the cottage a 1 on a scale of 1-10. The view and location are perfect. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was pretty well-equipped; the equipment just needs some updating. We also appreciated the bag of supplies given to us upon check-in. We have reserved Summer Place again for next year, so I hope it will be cleaner w/ some updated kitchen items next time. "

"It would be nice if the chairs on the deck were taller so you could see over the railing. The dishwasher worked ok but the top rack was rusted off on one corner. The stove was great, since it is brand new you may want to consider getting pans appropiate for flat top stove. The pans that were there left marks on the burners that did not come off with the cleaning supplies I had. We have stayed at the upper brit many times and really enjoy our time there. We have stayed at other rentals and prefer the upper brit."

"This property has been neglected by the owner. Furnishing are tired and worn out. Kitchen is very poorly equipped and is mostly full of junk pot, pans, dishes and glasses. The screened porch could be really nice but unfortunately it has become a "graveyard" for beach junk that previous tenants have left behind. Parking is difficult because there are full time tenants living in the building (this was not spelled out clearly on the website.) The location however is great. The house could be absolutely wonderful, but it's needs some serious TLC. The full time tenet (female) is noisy and quite frankly rude. Her loud singing and carrying on awakened us several times. We have own a vacation property and have rented it in the past. I always kept my property up and insured that it was a comfortable home away from home. We learned that the property was sold to a new owner while we were there, hopefully they will put some money and effort into the property. I'm am certain that they could increase the rental rate if the property was nicer. Staff is friendly and very helpful. We did have the dryer die and the AC quit working. Was very impressed that the dryer was replaced quickly with a brand new one and AC fixed in a timely manner. Great job! "

I highly recommend that the situation in that house be assessed for health/safety. The bedrooms have virtually no storage space. The kitchen supplies are lacking to say the least. Air conditioning in the lower level is poor--very hot! The covered parking area is too narrow--cannot open car doors--had to park outside. We have been vacationing in Topsail for 50 years and this was the worst house we have ever rented. For the cost of the rental, we expected much more. We went home early; very disappointed."

"We had to book this property last minute due to an unexpected cancellation from our original rental company. This home was more expensive than our original rental and in much poorer condition. The facilities had obviously not been cleaned in months, there were ants in the kitchen, the beds were uncomfortable, the bathrooms smelled like urine, some deck furniture was broken, the deck was splintering (2 of the children got splinters from it), there were rusty nails and beer caps on the deck. Basically, the home was way over priced for the value. We would not rent this property again and were very dissapointed. Though the rental company did respond promptly to our complaints regarding the cleaning and the bugs, this property should be rented at a much lower price point or renovated."

"The kitchen had ants! All over the counter by the sink were ants. We had to go out and buy Raid to kill the ants and they still kept coming. We couldn't keep any type of snacks out because they ants would just invade them. The wallpaper on both bathroom walls was falling off. There were holes in the wall in the powder room. The sinks and tubs needed to be cleaned better. Green around the drains is tacky and gross. The furniture on the decks were uncomfortable. Go and buy those high deck chairs everyone else has. The tv downstairs kept going on and off. The remote didn't work on the tv upstairs. The table in the living room was wobbly. The bunk bed was falling apart. We had to screw it back together. Just get twin beds. The mattress in the main bedroom was uncomfortable and the box spring torn and ripped. Every time the washer changed cycles the television upstairs went off. The electricity in the whole house needs to be checked. And PLEASE GET RID of those window blinds!! They fell down constantly. They are awful. Put up pull drapes like in a hotel or some other type of window covering, but get ride of those vertical blinds. I would stay at this property again in you make all the corrections."

"Sliding glass doors need to be fixed. They were quite difficult to get open and closed. Also, several of the windows have broken seals causing the glass to fog up inside the panes of glass. The decking was quite rough and splintery. Got spinters in my hands from holding the railing when going up the steps. I hurt my feet several times on nails sticking up from the planks. Looks like the roofing is in need of repair. "

"Unfortunately our intial impression was a poor one The unit is showing some wear. Outside trim is peeling and cracking, some areas within unit had primer paint showing, so painting was not complete. The carpet on the stairs was badly stained. The Main TV in the family room had vertical color stripes upon arrival on Saturday and on Sunday the volume did not work. It was not until Tuesday that a new TV was provided. A recliner on the Master Suite deck was broken, went to sit in and fell backwards because chair back was broken.Some shades in Master Suite were showing wear and tear. "

"Pool was closed on Sunday. Vinyl in bathrooms coming up at seams. Sliding glass door lock was missing a piece, was very difficult to open. Blankets in bathroom closet had human hair and was matted. Bifold doors have rust on them. Kitchen did not have functioning can openers. Pans had Teflon flaking off them, which is a carcinogen. Sofa couch was immensely uncomfortable and could be improved with an inexpensive pad. No message posting onsite laundry location and purpose of keys on fridge. Had to ask surf condos property management about location and key access. Shower wasn't draining and plugged with fist sized hair and debris, which I had to pry out with a table knife. Standing lamp was rusted. Overall this property is overpriced."

"The shower head in the single bathroom on the second floor was broke and left on one setting that was actually a quite painful stream of water. The washer and dryer room literally smelled like someone had poured fresh penzoil on the floor (I'm guessing that was their way of fixing it) except the smell was extremely horrendous. Last but not least the kitchen sink that had the garbage disposal was broke to the point that it stayed backed up our entire vacation and was very annoying. We also rented in 2014 and I was very impressed with our house. After renting this year and how disappointing this property was for the almost $2000 we spent, I may consider using a different reality company next year."

"We really appreciated the grill! The deck and screened porch were great assets. We loved how the Topsail Beach beach was not crowded even on Memorial Day. There were two CD players and neither of them worked. When we arrived there was no toilet paper in either bathroom. We always buy some to replace what we've used but we drive long distance to get there and expect to have tp available when we walk in. We have stayed at a Century 21 rental 8 of the last eleven years and it has always been a pleasant experience where we were confident to walk into the house and know what we were getting. Each house has been clean, well-stocked, and furnished and laid out as advertised. We'll be back next year!"

"The exterior of the house appeared a bit weathered compared to our last stay there. A lot of new rust around nail holes. The outside shower had a couple of boards that had fallen off of their fasteners, wood was soft. Those are minor but My main concern would be the decking. It appears in bad shape and needs to be repaired if not replaced. While the flooring was strong, it looks bad. The rails did not appear strong at all. They were creaky, easy to move, and at least one section along the way to the beach moved more than it should and would not hold a decent size guy leaning too hard on it. I think the wood has weathered to the point where the fasteners are probably not holding as well as they should. It really needs some work."

The brochure said no dishwasher and it did have one which was good. The DVD player in living room does not work. The kitchen had very limited cooking supplies and the frying pans were in bad shape. Could have used something other than the couple of plastic chairs for the deck. The kitchen was covered daily with sugar ants as well. But other than that the beds were nice, the setting was nice. Only other issue that we could have had is there is only one parking spot and considering the house should be for 7 people I don't know where a second car would have parked."

We would love to go through Century 21 next year. You have a top-notch organization. We wanted to vacuum but the bag was full and there were no replacement bags. We called Century office and they took care of it immediately. "

"The outside grounds were taken care of very well. The new pool is a great addition since we were last at Surf. The entry door to the condo was peeling paint, dirty, and looked very uninviting The bathtub had a crack across the back on the bottom. The tub is mushy when you step on it m assuming it is a tub insert. How sanitary is that crack. We had no tv for a week. There r 3 tvs and NO instructions for any of them. I know that this has been a problem for other tenants because they expressed this in the condo journal. There was rusty water leaking from under the frig 1 day. We cleaned this up with no idea why this happened. Did we report this no. Also, in the condo journal someone else left a note of disapproval without a date. The bed is covered with a lumpy cover. It was weird and we have never experienced anything quite like it. I think a new bed is overdue. We would never stay in this property again, recommend it to anyone, and it makes you a little shy about making a reservation with Century 21 without 300 questions. This is not our 1st stay. We have been in Surf many times over the years and NEVER had a condo quite like this one. Our contact person was Russ. He's a super gentleman and answered our questions and returned our phone calls. He's fun to talk to. Thank you for being our go to person."

Rent goes up so it would be nice to continue to see repairs on these types of things also. Just like the new doors. TV's very difficult to understand. From a very limited sample, it seems like Century 21 has higher requirements for its properties to be well maintained and for the cleaning services. Also, provides linens. "There were issues with the unit: the electrical outlet in the bathroom does not work, the exhaust fan in the bathroom runs but does not suck air, the shower does not work. The bedroom is warm-I realize that there is a unit air conditioner that cools the entire unit but it would help if there was a blind to block the sun in the south facing window to help cool the bedroom. The TV reception is horrible, almost useless. Even though wifi was available there was no printable documentation giving the username and password. We finally called on Wed. of that week and got the information from the office. The stopper in the kitchen sink needs replaced, it would not hold water. Other than the fact that the unit is old and run down, that the couch and pillows on the coach is old and dirty and the carpet needs a good shampooing job, we did enjoy having the ocean view. We would not however, use this unit again."

"the front door lock worked perfectly EVERY TIME this year. It looks like a new lock. We have stayed at this unit for 3 or 4 years now and this has always been an issue. Whomever is cleaning the unit is doing a good job.2 - The bathroom ceiling exhaust fan cover for the bathroom in the top floor fell (15ft or more ceiling). It broke when it hit the toilet. This was also not fixed while we were there. Since it was broken it could not be re-attached by the maintenance guys and might require a new unit installation. The TV in the top floor bedroom did not work correctly. We could only get a sporadic picture on a couple of channels. We checked all of the cords to be sure they were tight and installed correctly and they were. Who knows what the issue was with that as no one ever came out to check it. "

It was difficult for my older guests to get down to and up from the beach due to steep incline and large pipe to get over. The pet fee was unreasonable! I have stayed in much nicer places with my dog for half that price. I felt taken advantage of. On a good note, it was a great location and view from upper deck was beautiful."

"We were disappointed with the seating. We had 5 people and some had to sit in the floor or in the hard kitchen chairs to watch tv. There was a man that came to spray paint while we were there and although he covered our car, it made us very very nervous because our car is brand new and white. I would rather stuff like that had been done before we checked in as it only took him 45 minutes. Seems like that could have been done while the property was being cleaned before check in. We were also very disappointed that when we first arrived it was 85 degrees. It took until the next day to cool down. I don't understand why the air had been turned OFF if there had been someone checking out that day and Century 21 knew we were checking in. Seems as though it would cost more to let it get that hot and then have to cool it back down as well as making our first day and night of our vacation miserable while inside. Other than that, we had a very nice time. We really like the fact that bed and bath linens were included so we didn't have to pack those. "

"The only complaint that we had was that the air would not cool the house down and that there were little ants all over including on the beds and they bite. so maybe just get somebody to spray for the ants and fix the air but other then that the house was great. I loved the view and had a wonderful time and would def come back and use the same house.The air would not work right and cool the house down. it never got cooler than 78 degrees in the house. We did call and fans were delivered it did help some but just getting that checked out for the next time somebody stays would be helpful."

"Upon entering first floor there was a strong urine smell coming from one of the bedrooms. There was no beach items as stated in the description of property online. There was no broom to tidy up. The kitchen was poorly supplied. No bakeware, not even a cookie sheet! In order to use the oven for meals we had to purchase bakeware. Only one potholder! The online description of the kitchen stated, "even the chef in your family will feel pampered." That statement is false.Most of the issues with our rental were a matter of property neglect on the owners part. I'm grateful to the staff member, I think his name is Adrian, who made a follow up call after our visit. I was reassured that our problems and comments about the quality of our stay were taken seriously."

It would have been really nice to not have to walk back thru the dirt after using the outside shower, and we had to bring the hose onto the front steps landing to use it out of the dirt,however it leaked so someone had to go back thru the dirt to turn it back off. The furniture was very cute but highly uncomfortable! Besides the couch there was no where you could sit for longer than 10 minutes. After a long day enjoying the island walking, swimming, biking, etc, one does not want to sit in a chair with no upper back or arm support to relax. The master bed was completely unacceptable!My husband and I left feeling the need for a chiropractor! The parking was off only in the fact that when you pull all the way in it's hard to get all vehicle doors open. And when we had both vehicles and our small trailer pulled in it was a tight squeeze to walk out between last car and entry poles. I personally banged my head on the power box repeatedly! On a positive note, We absolutely loved the location!!! The views were spectacular and whoever buys this property has got a real jewel!!!! Fix the above issues (mainly the bed) and we would re-rent this house every year! Loved being greeted with smiles @ C21!"

"Electronics - 1) We were unable to locate a Wi-Fi modem with password but were able to use a non-secure Wi-Fi that was available (not sure if it was for our unit or not). It looked like there could possibly be a modem in the downstairs Queen bedroom closet (looked like a modem wire running to it) but the closet was locked and we couldn't check. 2) We were unable to use the TVs in all three of the downstairs bedrooms, but we didn't spend time trying to figure it out because we really weren't going to be using them much anyway. 3) There is a damaged spot on the TV screen in the living room that is noticeable when the TV is on but it doesn't affect the operation. It is to the left of the center and runs from about the middle down toward the bottom of the screen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pelican's Perch and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Check-in and check-out at Century 21 Action, Inc. was incredibly fast and easy...I don't think I've ever checked in or out with any other realty company in the past 25 years that quickly! Staff was very friendly and helpful. "

"Previous tenants had left broken beach chairs, an umbrella and some beach toys, which we had to gather and store underneath the house. Also, the stairs to the beach were quite old and the sand dune covered the steps, so we had to climb a dune all week to access the beach and get back to the deck - that was tough. Adjacent properties had raised their deck/stairs over the dune - perhaps the owners of this property would consider doing that as well. Staff was great to work with - no problems whatsoever with your team."

"The house was not very clean upon arrival - but not too bad so no real complaint. The biggest problem was on Wednesday night we wanted to grill some chicken and discovered there was no grill (8 adults looking and no luck). We had to go out an purchase our own grill - this was very disappointing. It was to late to call the office as it was 8pm. Several windows in the house do not open. The weeds growing in the boardwalk to the beach need to be cut (some of them have thorns on them. Remote control for 1 of the Televisions needs replacing)."
